A few easy tips and tricks for incorporating detailed photos on your wedding day. I’ve compiled an easy list of things to think about for both the couple and photographer.
Second Photographer
It’s not the right choice for everyone, but including a second shooter on your wedding day means that you have more time for details. For example, while your main shooter is off taking portraits, the second shooter can be getting a different angle of the same stuff or off somewhere else getting little details or oftentimes candid guest photos. Sometimes this can be the difference of getting “that moment” that your main photographer couldn’t since they can’t be in two places at once. This is especially good for those who have large wedding parties.
Wedding Invitation
A trend I see a lot lately is doing “flatlay” photos. This means a photo of your wedding invitation mixed with small pieces of your big day. To make things easier on your photographer, send them a wedding invitation or save the date card! Once there, your photographer can either gather items to incorporate with this, or you can have a designated person be assigned to help them collect all the items. Even having a bag ready to go so they can get this portion out of the way on arrival is life changing! Some small items you can include are: your earrings, shoes, flower bouquet, and family heirlooms/ mementos.
How to style the shoot? You can use any kind of backdrop for these but some fun ideas include: bringing colored fabrics/ lace to lay out that fit the mood/ color palette of the wedding theme. Using a bridesmaids dress and the entire backdrop. We have even used the wedding album as a flat lay backdrop for rings!
Signs and DIY
Other details of the day you should always include are: signs, table settings, flowers, and any special gifts that have been given out or used on the wedding day- like cufflinks for the father of the bride or memory photos. If these items are important to you, make sure you have a checklist for your photographer beforehand!
Wedding Rings
Another really important detail photo: RINGS. This one is kind of a no-brainer, but make sure to include time to sneak away with the wedding bands- we like to do this while the bride and groom are sitting down with dinner. Some photo ideas to shoot the rings include: in the wedding flowers, in the confetti from the send off, or in the ring box they’ll use
